List Seeding

Seeding refers to the security process in which an email list is seeded with fake email addresses used to bait and capture email violations. Seed addresses are embedded into an opt-out list and if that address receives email, the violator can be tracked through their IP address and that info can be provided to the Advertiser and/or the authoritative agency having jurisdiction.
